Well it may be that at present the robots can’t understand human emotions, but soon they will be. As a robot which is being developed in Finland will be able to differentiate between different human emotions by voice recognition and gestures.
The development is taking place at the University of Oulu in Finland, where a research group is working on this new technology which will be very much beneficial for security areas and even for nursing homes, Logistics etc.
The team led by Juha Roning Matti and Pietikainen is developing this new project on speech animation, navigation and what can be best described as machine vision.
In-order to make all this possible, the researchers are using a normal video camera along with a Kinect depth camera and an integrated Microphone which enables voice transfer to the main processing unit.
This new robot can even remember interactive actives in addition to human face attributes.
